The Building Careers From the Ground Up, Specialist High Skills Major program offers you a new experience with your education.
Have you wanted to be out of the classroom and constructing something with your own hands?
Would you rather be getting hands-on, real life construction trade experience?
Would you like to jump start your career and earn apprenticeable hours while still in high school?
Would you like to attend Mohawk College, earn your first level Carpentry and be accepted into the Construction Engineering Technician program at Mohawk College, while still in high school?
Students accepted into the Building Careers From the Ground Up Program will now be able to accomplish these tasks. In addition, students will participate in work experience with various trades and have access to Hamilton-Halton Home Builders.
Students who choose the Building Carerers From the Ground Up Program will spend time constructing a house, either for a local builder or for Habitat for Humanity, with a full compliment of tools.
Students will earn their Industry recognized, Specialist High Skills Major certificate, and receive a red seal on their OSSD. Many of your senior level compulsory courses will contain Construction related material. Participate in industry recognized training and certification courses in WHMIS, First -Aid/CPR, Fall Arrest and many more.
